Do 1–3 pre-washes to activate the grip. Wash in cold or lukewarm water with mild soap or detergent, without wringing. Dry in the shade, never in the sun or near direct heat. Most amateur goalkeepers go through 3 to 4 pairs a year: expect a lifespan of 2 to 3 months. A pro goalkeeper usually goes through a pair every 2–3 weeks due to the maximum demands of training and matches.
