Goalkeeper apparel care

N1 technical apparel is designed to breathe, keep you warm and protect you match after match. Washing it correctly keeps the fabric stretchy, the seams strong and the padding in place.

Washing

  • Machine wash at 30 °C max, on a gentle cycle, or by hand.
  • Wash garments inside out and with similar colors.
  • Use a little detergent and no fabric softener: it clogs the pores of technical fabric.
  • Don't use bleach or harsh stain removers.
  • Close zips and velcro before washing so they don't snag other garments.

Drying

  • Air-dry, in the shade, hanging or flat.
  • Never tumble dry: heat deforms elastic fibers and padding.
  • Don't iron. If you must, use the lowest temperature and iron inside out, avoiding prints and padding.

Base layers and Protek

Base layers and garments with Protek padding (goalkeeper jerseys, pants and shorts) are washed the same way, at 30 °C and inside out. Don't wring the padded areas and dry them flat or hanging so the padding keeps its shape. With this care, they'll last the whole season.

Rain jackets

Wash at 30 °C without fabric softener or bleach and hang to dry in the shade. Don't iron or tumble dry: the water-repellent treatment breaks down with heat.

Tip: wash technical apparel after every use. Dried sweat is what wears out the fibers most and causes odor.

FAQ

Can I machine wash technical apparel?

Yes, at 30 °C max, inside out, with similar colors and no fabric softener.

Can I tumble dry the apparel?

No. Technical fibers and padding deform with heat. Air-dry in the shade.

How do I wash garments with Protek padding?

Like everything else, at 30 °C and inside out, without wringing the padded areas. Dry flat or hanging, with no tumble dryer and no iron on the padding.

Why no fabric softener?

Because it clogs the pores of technical fabric and reduces breathability and the ability to wick away sweat.
